2009 Christmas Visit to Path Achieve Homeless Shelter

2009 Christmas Visit to Path Achieve Homeless Shelter

In the spirit of giving to those in need, and what has become an annual tradition for the past 11 years, members and monastics of the Self Realization Fellowship Glendale Temple volunteered their time to celebrate a fabulous Christmas at Path Achieve homeless shelter in Glendale.

Since 1997, Path Achieve Glendale has worked with homeless families and individuals. In addition to providing for their basic needs (such as food and clothing), they have also created a portfolio of tools and resources that help them move from the streets into permanent housing.

Since 1997, 70% of their shelter residents have moved into housing at the end of their two to three month stay. The success of shelter residents depends upon the volunteers, donors, and staff working together to bring hope to the homeless.

Prior to the Annual Christmas Party, the Glendale congregation purchased individual Christmas gifts for 35 children as well as gifts for each of the 45 adults. The event invited not only shelter residents but "graduates" of the shelter who are in transitional programs, as they are often the most needy. These gifts, along with financial support, were donated at the Charity Event Party on December 21, 2009.

A heartfelt thanks to all who helped make this year’s event a success!
