Message from Bro. Bhumananda
June 19, 2020
Dear Devotees and Friends,
We hope that you are continuing to keep safe and healthy during this challenging time in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Although our Temple is currently closed due to safety precautions, we pray that you are receiving much inspiration and strength from the online meditations and weekly services that Self-Realization Fellowship is offering.
Many of you may be wondering how you can support our Glendale Temple while it remains temporarily closed. For those who are able and would like to help the Temple with a gift at this time, an account has been added to our website that allows you to donate specifically towards the Temple’s ongoing operating expenses.
This account, called the Glendale Temple “General Operating Fund,” is used to cover the on-going necessary costs - such as utilities, cleaning and supplies, gardening, maintenance, and other general Temple expenses – vital to the operation and maintenance of the temple.
The “Temple Building Fund” with which many of you are familiar and that has been in place for many years, will continue to exist and be used for larger expenses and specific projects, such as new construction and major improvements.
At this time when the Temple is closed, in addition to the normal gardening, cleaning, and operating expenses, we have been repairing the Temple roof in places, painting some of the Temple buildings where it is needed most, and accomplishing additional much-needed repairs as well. We are also taking steps to ensure a safer sanitized environment when the Temple reopens by installing in our restrooms hands-free faucets, liquid soap dispensers, and paper towel dispensers; and purchasing hand-sanitizer units that can be placed throughout the Temple site.
The donation page of the Glendale Temple website has been updated to provide options for donating to either or both funds. Gifts to the “General Operating Fund” are particularly welcome right now, while the Temple is closed, to help defray our basic monthly expenses. To make a gift at this time, please visit the Glendale Temple donation page and choose from the options provided.
Thank you for all you are doing to support Paramahansa Yogananda’s work, and the Glendale Temple, during this challenging time—not only through any financial gifts that you are able to make but also through your sincere prayers and efforts to persevere in your daily spiritual efforts. Please know that through your sincerity in applying the SRF teachings in your lives, you are making a very real and tangible contribution in helping the world.
We keep all of you in our loving thoughts and best wishes, and pray that God’s love, joy, and strength ever shine brightly in your hearts and minds.
In divine friendship,
SRF Glendale Temple
